Horsey Christmas Gift Ideas

Date November 14, 2007

Need stocking stuffers for that horse crazy girl or guy this Christmas? I have some favorite items that I love so much I just have to share.

Thelwell Ponies
I grew up reading my mom’s well-worn copies of Norman Thelwell’s A Leg At Each Corner, Riding Academy, and Angels on Horseback. These timeless horse books are well-drawn comics geared towards girls and their ponies. They chronicle all sorts of hilarities to which many of us can relate. Whether it’s riding in your first show, learning to jump, picking your horses feet, giving him a bath, or falling off for the first time, the girls and ponies show their stubborn streaks in these caricatures of our many horse-related incidents. These books are mainly geared towards English riders (Norman Thelwell is British), but I hear that Pony Panorama delves into western riding some. These books are absolute must-haves for any equestrian enthusiast.

Elmer is a dufy-looking horse collectible figurine, now available in ornaments! He’s a little silly looking, but irresistibly cute with a somewhat earthy feel. There are a few figurines I like, but I’m very partial to the Christmas ornaments. Here are a few of my favorites:
