Excellence In Equine Care Award

I’m honored that Arlene over at Grey Horse Matters honored me with the Excellence in Equine Care Award. I certainly don’t know everything there is to know, but ensuring proper care of horses and knowing as much as I can are equine-related passions of mine. I hate to see horses that are mistreated purposely or just from lack of knowledge.

This award will be especially encouraging this week as I’ll be spending a long weekend caring for Dave and Tracie’s horses while they attend the Equine Affaire in Columbus. I love taking care of the horses, but it is hard work and I’ll have to get up extra early in the morning. If I start to feel grumpy about it, I’ll remember this award and make sure that I live up to it.

I may even have to pretend it’s an excellence in equine, feline, and canine care. Dave and Tracie have 4 horses, 8 house cats, 3 barn cats, and 2 dogs. All are immaculately cared for.  It’s quite a job to care for all of them twice a day and keep their routines, but I’m glad to do it. Surprisingly, the horses are the easiest part!

I’m passing this award on to On the Bit who deserves it more than anyone I know. A year ago, her horse Gennyral suffered a severe tendon injury and almost died. On the Bit shelled out a lot of money for two stem-cell therapy treatments, and worked hard to save a horse she deeply loves but may never ride again. She did save his life, and he is doing very well. It’s been a hard, scary year for her and she deserves our recognition for her hard work and dedication to her horse.

THANK YOU! It is very kind of you to give this award to me! All I did was try and save the horse I love because I knew (or wished) he could live a good life some day, even if I could never ride him again. You only get one “once in a lifetime horse”.

Jackie, you really DO deserve that award! Mucho congrats to you girl!

Now does that not look beautiful gracing your site? ;)

Have fun taking care of critters- bet you will shine at that as well :)

On the Bit – You’re welcome. That’s exactly why I thought you deserve it.

    Mrs. Mom – Thanks!

I am happy you liked the award. You deserve it. Sounds as if you will have a very full week. I only wish you had a twin in my area, it is near impossible to find a responsible person to take care of the horses /dogs while we are away, so between my daughter and myself , we take turns caring for the horses if one of us has to be away.

GreyHorseMatters – It is a lot of work caring for all of those animals. They are extremely well-cared for and have very strict routines. On one hand that makes it easier for me to pet sit, but it’s also a big job. I’m glad to help out though. Not sure what they would do without me! :-)
