Horses Sprout Wings To Get To the Olympics In Hong Kong

Date July 24, 2008

Ok, not really. These horses can soar over jumps or in one and two tempis, but as far as I know none have turned into Pegasus to wing themselves overseas. Fortunately, there are some wonderful services that are in charge of getting the four-footed athletes to the Olympics.

The New York Times ran a fun article today outlining the U.S Team’s Show Horses Flight Plan to Hong Kong. It details when they are leaving, how they get them on the plane, the companies handling the transports, and the special considerations for the different horses. It’s an interesting article and well worth the read.

What a great article! They had an article in the USEF magazine about the trip over also. I am just fascinated by it. I can’t get enough…I would love to be a groom with the airline.

I thought it was a great article but I wish it showed the inside of the airplane and how the horses ride! We need more pictures and indepth photos!
