Need Help Marketing Your Horse Business?

I’m an online shopper. I like to look for good prices, read reviews, compare products, and find the best quality at the best price. I don’t have any good tack shops in my area, so I order all of my horsey stuff online.

And I’m always discouraged by just how poorly designed, organized, and run most equestrian websites are.

It doesn’t matter if you are a large or small tack shop, feed store, trainer, boarding and/or lesson stable, breeder, horse artist, or magazine; having a great website will make you more money. Usability studies show that a website that looks professional is more credible in people’s eyes. And if your website is so hard to navigate or doesn’t have enough information, you will lose sales.

That’s why I’m thrilled to tell you about a one-day seminar that my 9-5 is putting on just for equestrian businesses, our WEB.MAN.SHIP Clinic. My boss is one of the best in the industry when it come to training. And I’ll be getting to help with the training portions about blogs and social media since I’m so plugged in to the equestrian community online.

I’m not excited about this seminar because of what it will do for my company, I’m excited about it because of what it can do for you. I want to see horse businesses succeed online. And I love that I can be a part of making that happen.

Why Market Your Horse Business Online?

Online marketing isn’t just for e-commerce sites that have products to sell. It is just as important for the boarding barn who needs leads, the therapeutic riding facility that needs volunteers and donors, or the breeder who has horses for sale.

An even better reason is that if you have a little bit of know-how, marketing online is inexpensive. Utilizing social media sites, incorporating good search engine optimization, getting listed in local search engines, and analyzing what happens on your site with free tools like Google Analytics don’t cost you a thing. People are looking for you, or someone with your product or service, and you want them to be able to find you.

What You Will Learn

The topics covered in this seminar will help you think through key areas you need to address as you plan, develop, market, and evaluate your website. And we will be sure to provide lots of examples and practical steps that you can implement immediately. The topics include:

  • Usability – how to design your website so that it is easy to use and gets conversions
  • Search Engine Optimization – simple steps you can take to get qualified traffic from the search engines
  • Blogging – how and why to blog to attract links, visitors, and loyal customers
  • Social media – which websites are worth your time and how to use them to your advantage
  • Analytics – tracking how people use your website and using that information to make your website perform at its best.

You don’t need much technical knowledge to understand what we will talk about or to implement these marketing strategies on your site. There will be enough detail that you will understand the key basics and implement your own campaign immediately. There won’t be any sales pitches. And it will be specifically tailored to equestrian business.

Sounds like a very cool idea!!! I wish I could come but considering I have no equine business and make no money from my blog I don’t think I am your target audience. I hope it is packed and everyone learns a ton!

This is a great idea. So many equine businesses go for the pretty website and forget about SEO and using the site itself as a marketing tool.

My blog has ads, but it’s also not even six months old yet, so it’s still probably building castles in the Google Sandbox. (SEO and the Sandbox are two terms that I’d never heard of until I started a similar-but-not-equine-centric online business program.)

A website doesn’t have to be expensive to be useful — just a domain, hosting with a WordPress.org platform all prettied up with one of the bajillion free themes.

You really don’t need animated ponies changing color as they run across the screen. But, apparently, you DO need good title tags. Who knew?? :)

That’s so awesome! I wish I could go, but now we are planning a trip to Hawaii next month (I’m certainly not complaining I just wish I could do both). Do you think there will be any type of DVD that can be purchased after the seminar?

I took the liberty of posting a notice about this seminar on the COTH forum. I hope you don’t mind. It’s in the “Off Course” section.
